Learn mindfulness based practices supported by the grounding presence of horses. Reconnect with the natural world and your own inner wisdom, cultivate compassion for yourself and others, and build the courage to step fully into your life with power and authenticity.

Healing in Connection
Today’s world can be overwhelming, and it’s easy to become disconnected from ourselves, from nature, and from each other.
Spending time with horses can help us slow down and reconnect with our capacity for mindful awareness and personal power.
My experience during this Mindfulness with Horses retreat was and continues to be life-changing. I had no expectations going into it and had very little interaction with horses before. Now I can honestly say besides the incredible amount of life skills that I’ve learned in this short amount of time, and the invaluable information I’ve received about myself, I feel truly connected to the deepest part of my being. It is a very special experience. Words can’t describe it.

Rest and Reset with Horses in Nature
Join Jennifer Harper for these very special opportunities to rest and reset in some of the most beautiful places in the world. Upcoming locations include 13 Hands Rescue in NY’s Hudson Valley, and Bitterroot Ranch in Wyoming.
During Mindfulness with Horses retreats, you’ll settle in to the rhythm of the natural world and your own inner wisdom, cultivate compassion for yourself and others, and build the courage to step fully into your life with power and authenticity.
You’ll learn to connect and communicate using your body language, breath, energy and intention. Every retreat is a bit different, as the participants and the horses create their own relationships and take the lead.
Programs often include:
- Exchanging greetings and communicating your intentions
- Observing herd interactions including between mothers and foals
- Asking for space without creating fear or disconnection
- Supporting a horse that is uncomfortable or nervous
- Inviting a horse to walk and/or rest with you
- Grooming a horse to create comfort and connection
- Moving quietly through the herd without disturbing the horses
We’ll spend our time away from the herd expanding on our discoveries and setting intentions for the next day, through a combination of mindfulness practices, gentle movement, journaling and group discussion.
Together we’ll explore a way of being in the world that is deeply healing, that connects us to our own body and breath, and to each other. And we’ll be supporting the healing journey of the horses we work with as well.
Scholarships and payment plans are available for many of our programs. If you need financial assistance to participate, please email jenn@mindfulnesswithhorses.com.

About Jennifer Cohen Harper
Hi. I’m Jenn. A lifelong student of horses, a mindfulness and yoga educator, a TF-EAL (trauma focused equine assisted learning) provider, an author, a mom of two young girls, a dog snuggler, an RV traveller, a book reader…
The driving force of my work is sharing practices and experiences that support healing, strengthen connection with ourselves and others, and help both children and adults joyfully embrace the full human experience.
Horses have been a source of healing, joy, and learning for me since childhood, and their presence as attuned companions has greatly enhanced my mindfulness practice.
Time with horses makes me feel fully alive, and I LOVE sharing that experience.

About 13 Hands Equine Rescue
13 Hands is a magical place in New York’s Hudson Valley, where horses and many other animals find safety, and a new purpose, after being abused, neglected or abandoned.
Founded in 2015, 13 Hands has rehabilitated and re-homed hundreds of horses, and others have become permanent residents, either working in therapy programs or enjoying well earned retirements.
Mindfulness with Horses is grateful to have this very special sanctuary as a home base, where our retreats can support the healing of these horses alongside our human participants.
